National Minnesota Day
The Land of 10,000 Lakes Makes Even More MemoriesMarch 1 is National Minnesota Day, but we have 364 more days to celebrate the 32nd state in the union, one of the largest geographically and one of the most ecologically diverse. Photography G’s Garrett calls Minnesota his home state—and yes, he still pronounces it with the long “O” after so many years in Colorado. Minnesota is brimming with lakes and opportunities for outdoor adventure—that much, we’re sure you know. Even the name “Minnesota” is a Dakota word for “clear blue water.” Even more, Minnesota’s state bird, the loon (pictured below), is naturally an outstanding swimmer and easily at home on one of the state’s 14,000 or so lakes. We’re petitioning to change the well-worn phrase about ducks to “like a loon in water.” As lake season approaches and the fish start jumping, our thoughts and gaze may steer toward our far neighbor to the north, but “lake life” is a vibe, and we hope you find yours.
