May is National Photo Month, and we’re celebrating our favorite photos—hopefully yours, too. While it’s true that pictures are worth a thousand words, what’s not usually said is that “pictures are worth a thousand of your words.” That’s because each picture that’s special to us is special to us for different reasons. And we love all of them.

This week’s photo is one of Garrett’s and a special one he took in Paris. In his own words: “I love this photo because all the elements came together in one magical moment. I was on a trip to Paris and stumbled upon the Latin Quarter. The rain was falling light enough to give that Hollywood wet-street look but not raining enough to keep people indoors—including me. The confluence of four streets meeting, the perfect lighting for the evening, people standing still enough to be in focus, and the motion blur of other tourists walking by, was enough to captivate my attention. When people see this image, they assume it was taken on a tripod, but I shot it one-handed with an umbrella in the other. This was one of my very first images taken with a digital camera after being a film shooter for many years, so it is very special to me.”
