Tiki Barber
Take our word for it: When it comes to withstanding incredible stress on your body, there’s no advice like advice from a (likely) future hall-of-fame NFL running back. We were lucky enough to meet Tiki Barber, the all-time leader in rushing yards for the New York Giants and 15th on the list for most yards from scrimmage in NFL history. Tiki knows exactly what it’s like to beat up his body week after week and come back for more.
We met Tiki at the annual conference of the American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine earlier this month, and the running back legend (and extremely nice human) had a lot of insight to share on what it’s like to care for your body for a long time. His regimen included care for his body, but also his mind. After 10 years in the NFL, and arguably at his prime, Barber walked away from the game knowing his future health would be crucial. From there, he’s enjoyed success as a broadcaster and even on Broadway. Even when physical care feels like a grind, it’s important to remember that health is a game of inches and every gain is an important step toward our own goals!
