Crossing Point South – Building Better Neighborhoods
Investing In Our Own People Always Pays us Back |
Colorado has no shortage of natural beauty, great weather, and excellent recreation, but sadly, we do have one shortcoming in our superb state: affordable housing. For income-restricted residents and newcomers, the barrier to entry into living here is as high as the Rockies. Solving that problem isn’t a one-size-fits-all answer, either.
Thankfully, community-oriented developers like Maiker Housing Partners are helping us all solve the problem of finding affordable, sustainable, and attractive housing for people who’d like to call the Denver Metro Area home – or people who are thinking about coming here. Their recent community, Crossing Pointe South, just celebrated the grand opening of its second development phase and will serve residents in Thornton and we were lucky enough to photograph the occasion. The 1-, 2-, and 3-bedroom units are located at the corner of 104th Avenue and Colorado Boulevard and will serve families making 30%-60% of the median income for Thornton.
The multigenerational units aim to serve families in the area who need affordable housing and help and offer community-minded amenities like a fitness center, business areas, neighborhood gardens, and playgrounds. That type of sustainable development encourages ownership and fellowship among residents, and we’re here to say we hope it grows.
Investments like these are long-term projects aimed at improving every socioeconomic level in a community. Thanks to these, Colorado can develop another natural resource we depend on daily: our own people.
