About the Team
Garrett Hacking
I want to wow you so you never look anywhere else again for a photographer. My clients and I often form a bond, like family. Working together year after year. Familiar faces, familiar friends.
I love to be in the woods and hunt and fish for my food. There is nothing more pure and natural. I bring these same sensibilities to my photography. Make every shot count. That next cast could be a magazine cover. Be stealth. A witness, my subjects as unaware of my presence as possible but when they get their photos they see I was everywhere.
That’s as close as I can put into words how much I love what I do, who I work with and why I do it!
I devour photography like my dog loves a juicy bone. Ever since I was a kid and started photographing live bands. I followed the “rules” and went to college and got a ”job” after graduation. That didn’t last long. My passion was there and calling me to “do what you love, success will follow”. I soon was under the tutelage of German photographer Heinz Richter. I took everything that came my way, soaking up my craft like a sponge. I soon had the keys to his school, getting there at 7am, often locking up at 1am. I graduated with the most diverse portfolio and highest scores of any student he ever had. I was on my way!
Kellie is like my celluloid soulmate. Schooled in film which births the best photographers, and moving as one. A like minded, intelligent, passionate, empathic business partner like her comes along seldom in a lifetime. I truly believe we make the finest photographic team there is. At least since Heinz and I nearly burned down that school with artistic passion twenty some years ago.

Photography isn’t just a hobby for me, it’s my passion, and giving 100% is my number one priority. Spending long hours in the darkroom and studio to earn a BFA in photography has given me the understanding of how important it is to make just the right image at just the right time, because moments are fleeting. Making an image that resonates for a lifetime is what I live for, because in the end that’s all we have, memories and the photos to remind us.
I cannot function without my morning coffee, the mountains will always have my heart, and I unabashedly binge watch Bob Ross on Netflix.
Photography has always been a love of mine, and finally after a life change in my mid-twenties, I jumped in with both feet to full time college life as a non-traditional student as I paid my way through all 5 years of school as a bartender. Long nights in the dark room, hundreds and hundreds of dollars spent on film, I would not trade that experience for anything. I was ready to jump right in after school, and made another big life change by moving cities and states. As many can relate, school did not teach me the life lessons and hardships of utilizing my degree after college ended. I feel so incredibly lucky that I get to come to work and do what I love every single day.
Looking at it now, it seems quite fortuitous how I met Garrett and became a part of the Photography G team. Both coming from film backgrounds and completing photography school as non-traditional students, it is somewhat rare these days to find photographers with a degree and schooling in their line of work. The professionalism, artistic passion and ease of working with Garrett is unparalleled and I feel lucky to continue learning and to be a part of the Photography G team.
