National Photo Month Week Three
The Power Of Portraits is Profound
May is National Photo Month and we’re celebrating all month with our favorite photos—and hopefully yours too! This photo comes from Garrett’s collection, and it is proof of the power of portraiture. The above photo is from Garrett’s first paid job as a photographer (he was even still in school!) and was an easy pick, he said.
In his own words: “The money had little impact on my creativity that day. This would turn out to be one of that all-too-rare ‘God moments.’ For me, that was, this day, the ‘ah-hah! moment’ when my Higher Power made clear to me that this was the right direction to go for a career. You wish you had that moment when you’re 15, hope to have it before you die, and are blessed if you have it at 29.
Thanks, Dustin (the boy). Thanks, Shelley (his mom), and thanks to God for bringing all the elements together to make what I consider to this day a portrait that stands with the best of anything I have ever done. So very much goes through my mind when I look at this one split-second moment in time. It encompasses all that is the power, beauty, and majesty of a photograph.”
We want to feature your favorite photo here this month! Send us your memorable pic and tell us why you love it so much, and we’ll include one here at the end of the month! Email your photo to info@photographyg.com
