Mardi Gras
Let’s Geaux Into Spring With a Big PartyBreak out the king cake, beads, and court jester hats. Today is Fat Tuesday, the last day before Ash Wednesday, and the beginning of Lent for hundreds of thousands of people all over the world. Fat Tuesday is the traditional feast day and the last day of Carnival for partygoers. Fat Tuesday has evolved since its origins as the last blast before 40 days of penance ahead of Easter Sunday. What started as a modest tradition has become a big celebration for many people and like many other things, Fat Tuesday is now famous for being a party for the sake of partying. We’ll admit that the allure of king cake and beads (among other things) is too enticing for most of us to ignore, but we hope the annual festival also reminds us to enjoy each other and take in a parade or two before winter says goodbye. So fill up today on all the good stuff: friends, family, and food before settling in for the relatively short haul to spring. Geaux Cajun today!
